Urgent Appeal To Support Our Efforts Following Hurricane Helene

SmartAID Responds to Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and Florida

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, SmartAID, in collaboration with our partner FP Project and many grassroots community organizations, has swiftly mobilized to bring life-saving technology to the hardest-hit areas.

Our “Smart Mobile Trailers”, equipped with solar power units and communication systems, are providing critical support to first responders, local community grassroots charities, and the local communities themselves, we are in places such Asheville, North Carolina, Taylor county in Florida and more.

The devastation from Hurricane Helene has been catastrophic. With at least 223 lives lost and hundreds still missing since the storm made landfall on September 26, hundreds of thousands of people remain cut off, without power, and with limited communication and access to basic aid.

Why Technology Matters in Disasters

In the face of disasters like Hurricane Helene, technology is as essential as food, water, and shelter. "Technology has become a basic necessity in providing aid to communities affected by disasters. It allows humanitarian responders, government officials and local community leadership to reach far more people in need," says Shachar Zahavi, Founding Director of SmartAID.

But to continue expanding our impact, we need your help!

How Your Support Helps

Your contribution will directly provide:

  1. Electricity for shelters to keep families safe and comfortable and food kitchens to allow grassroots community volunteer groups to provide food and water daily to those in need.
  2. Cell phone charging stations so people can reconnect with loved ones and get critical information.
  3. Power for local clinics to safely store vital medicines and medical supplies
  4. Support for emergency responders to keep their communication systems operational and help save lives.

Technology is transforming disaster relief, and with your support, we can ensure that even more communities benefit from these innovations.

"We constantly engage the technology industry in shaping disaster response itself. It’s not just about delivering technology, but helping the tech community bring their ideas and solutions to people in need," says Zahavi.

The Road Ahead: Building Long-Term Resilience

While we are focused on immediate relief, our vision extends far beyond that. We are raising funds to build and deploy additional "Smart Trailers"—mobile units that provide clean energy, telecommunications, and clean water systems.

How You Can Help

We humbly ask for your support to help us meet these urgent needs. Every donation—no matter the size—makes a difference.

Your generosity will provide electricity, clean water, and medical support to communities still struggling to recover from the hurricane Helene’s devastation.

Together, we can bring hope, resilience, and recovery to those who need it most.
