Since the onset of the devastating war in Ukraine, SmartAID has been steadfast in its mission to provide critical assistance to those affected. Our response has been both urgent and compassionate, addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by individuals and communities caught in the conflict.
SmartAID has delivered vital resources to hospitals in war-torn regions, including headlamps for doctors and solar-powered generators to ensure medical facilities remain operational amidst the chaos. Recognizing the urgent needs of newborns, we have provided specialized portable baby incubators. These crucial devices enable mothers to quickly transport their babies to safety during air raids, safeguarding hundreds of young lives.
Our support extends beyond Ukraine's borders. As refugees crossed into Poland, many arrived with dead phones and no means of communication. SmartAID responded by supplying portable phone chargers, helping them reconnect with their loved ones and access essential services.
Additionally, we established Smart Classes across Poland, Moldova, Turkey, and Romania to support young Ukrainian students in continuing their education and maintaining a connection to their Ukrainian syllabus.
Within Ukraine, SmartAID has set up over 300 Smart Classes in shelters to ensure displaced children have access to education despite the ongoing conflict. We have also addressed the needs of individuals with hearing impairments by providing smartwatches that vibrate and alert them to air raid sirens, ensuring their safety when they cannot hear the alarms.
In response to the dire conditions faced by many, SmartAID has dispatched over 16 containers of aid across Poland and into Ukraine. We have also made significant improvements to a home for individuals with mental disabilities, including the installation of a kitchen, washing machine, dryer, and the sealing of 300 windows to protect against the harsh winter cold.
Furthermore, we have set up Starlink Wi-Fi in refugee camps in Moldova and established internet access in classrooms across Poland and Ukraine, ensuring that education and communication can continue despite the turmoil.
