Tonga: Essential medical equipment delivered

Tonga experienced a devastating volcanic eruption that triggered a tsunami, wreaking havoc across the islands. In response, SmartAID took swift action to help. They organized and sent essential medical equipment to the hospitals, including over 70 beds. Additionally, SmartAID provided KARCHA cleaning equipment to remove the white ash from schools and hospitals, ensuring proper sanitation and sterilization.

Currently, SmartAID is working on sending a mobile medical van equipped with solar power and necessary medical supplies. This van will be used for health checks in rural areas that lack hospitals and doctors. It will offer tele-health services, blood testing, pathology, breast examinations, diabetes management, and other essential health services to underserved communities.

SmartAID is addressing a critical need at a hospital that currently lacks essential supplies like bed sheets, towels, and medical gowns. Right now, patients are bringing their own sheets, raising significant hygiene concerns. To remedy this situation, SmartAID has organised a substantial donation of thousands of bed linen from a supplier to Australian hospitals—five pallets in total—to ensure a hygienic environment for patient care. Thanks to the ongoing support of DHL, these vital supplies are being shipped to the hospital.
