SmartAID assists a traumatised community by opening a Safe Space Trauma Centre in Israel

SmartAID - “Ra’anan Safe Space” in Israel: Supporting 7.10 Survivors

In the wake of unimaginable devastation, the SmartAID - Ra’anan Safe Space emerges as a beacon of hope and resilience.

Nestled in the serene village of Beit Yitzhak half an hour north of Tel Aviv, this sanctuary offers a lifeline to those grappling with the trauma of the October 7 Hamas massacres and kidnappings.

Here, bereaved families, first responders, individuals and communities in the south, families of abducted and those who were released received vital mental health care from our dedicated counselors, helping them navigate their grief and trauma.

The story of “Ra’anan Safe Space” is one of profound compassion and unwavering commitment.

Born out of the tragic events that shook southwest Israel’s Gaza border communities on 7.10, the center quickly became a haven for hundreds, providing immediate mental crisis support.

But our mission goes beyond immediate relief; it is about embarking on a long-term journey toward healing and recovery.

The compound is more than just a facility; it is a therapeutic oasis where survivors of the NOVA music festival, grieving families, first responders, families of abducted, those released and all those directly impacted by trauma can find peace.

The center offers a holistic approach to healing, intertwining psychological support with alternative and group resilience building.

The journey to healing is long and arduous, but together, we can make a profound difference.

Your contributions can help us expand our reach, providing essential support to more survivors and communities affected by this tragedy.

Our methods of intervention:

  • A unique healing environment, situated in and around nature, that reflects growth and eternal movement studies have shown that spending time in nature reduces stress, anxiety, and depression (grissini s. 2022) while improving mood and physical indicators such as lowering blood pressure(ldeno y, et al, 2017)
  • Combined mind-body interventions that includes photo-therapy, therapeutic gardening, art-therapy, yoga-therapy, sound healing, mud-therapy, mindfulness and rebirthing.
  • Working in small groups that are categorized according to a specified target audience (parents, siblings, widows et.). We use the group power to strengthen the individual one: the group serves as a source of support for coping and self-expectations and encourages social skills. Moreover, being in the group allows for personal growth and insights into interpersonal processes that do not exist in individual therapy) Schwartz, Berkovsky, Strauss, Tablesrud, and Rosendahl, 2019).
