Help us deploy ‘Smart Trailers’ to areas most affected by natural disasters

OVERALL
SmartAID Smart Trailer program is designed to provide critical support to local first responders and communities affected by natural disasters or war by offering access to clean energy and telecommunications.

The program is based on the experience gained from over a decade of disaster response specifically in the USA. The first trailer prototype was already deployed and used in Florida, to demonstrate the need for and the effectiveness of this type of solution.

CHALLENGES
First responders face significant challenges in providing aid and support to those affected during natural disasters and war torn areas. The lack of electricity and communication makes it difficult for them to coordinate relief efforts and provide essential services to the affected communities. The damaged infrastructure also affects the delivery of critical supplies such as food, water, and medical aid, further exacerbating the situation.

The first responders such as rescue teams, fire departments, paramedics, and different local and national charities, also face challenges in carrying out their operations without adequate power and communication resources. This creates a vicious cycle where the lack of aid and support leads to even more harm to the affected communities.

The challenges faced during times of natural disasters and war-torn areas require innovative solutions to ensure that aid and support can reach those in need in a timely and effective manner.

SOLUTION
The Smart Trailer units can provide a much-needed source of electricity and communication in the aftermath of a disaster, when traditional infrastructure is often damaged or unavailable.

By combining solar power, storage systems, and telecommunications systems, the trailers will be used as a resiliency hub for first and second responders, supply and food distribution, cooling station, mobile coordination center and device (communication, medical, etc.) charging station.

The ‘Smart Trailers’ will be rapidly deployable to power other community needs throughout the affected region and offer them a way to connect to their families and service providers. In between grid outages, the stationary and mobile microgrids will also serve as on-site educational and workforce development tools.

The ‘Smart Trailer’ program is an important step towards ensuring that communities affected by disasters have access to the resources and support they need to recover and rebuild.

By partnering with local first responders and aid charities, SmartAID is helping to address some of the most pressing needs of communities in times of crisis.
